My wife and I carved out a long weekend enjoying the scenery in the Smokies.Slowed down to around 30 fell asleep at least twice before reaching the gift shop.The 1st time it was in a group ride for Amerivespa Chattanooga and the 2nd time on my own.
The real pain is when slower riders will not utilize the pullout points.Would suggest riding this run first thing in the morning before too many folks hop on it.Hellbender 28 coming from the east is a much more scenic ride if that is what you like.Deals Gap is a neat store that is located on the Tail of the Dragon.
I do a lot of touring on my bike averaging 15-20k miles per year.But for us sport guys go early or around dusk and you will not be disappointed.

To me a greater test was Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain.No issues riding the bike but I was expecting a more flat riding plain than what I experienced.We visited the Dragon the last part of June 2014, with clear skies and bountiful turns.I wanted to shoot myself or at least have God smote my sick butt off my V-Rod.Thousands of Foreclosure deals are available on RealtyStore.com.With that being said the whole are has some of the greatest motorcycle rodes to can ride for weeks and not run out of cruves.
There are so many better roads in this area that are more enjoyable than this one.View the Best Buy weekly ad and Deal of the Day online and find a great deal with special sale prices.One other note: There was a cop at the far end of the run that looked like he loved to find speeding motorcyclists.If you are in the area for the weekend, check out the Two Rivers Lodge near the Tail.The restaurant has great food, 93 octane fuel on the south end.The road is in great shape with lots of tight turns but you will be passed by sport bikes at high speed and beware the cars coming the other way.Most of the road lies in Tennessee yet a small section of it crosses into North Carolina.This is when the Rice Rockets get impatient and will try and run you off the road.
The weather was beautiful, the scenery was outstanding, and most of the bikers behaved themselves.
